These post-mounted kinematic mirror mounts are designed to house large diameter optics. The C1517(/M) Kinematic Mount accepts Ø2" (Ø50.8 mm) optics, while the C1518(/M) Kinematic Mount accepts Ø3" (Ø75 mm) optics. Optics are secured in these mounts by a nylon-tipped setscrew. Both mounts are designed with heavy-duty springs to ensure mechanical stability while supporting the weight of the large diameter optics. Vertical positioning is achieved by sliding the rear clamping mechanism along the length of a Ø1.5" post. Once the desired vertical position is achieved, the clamping mechanism can be actuated using the attached handle.
These clamps feature a quick-release handle for securing the clamp to a post. The handle contains a 1/4"-20 (M6) threaded stud that engages the part by simply rotating the handle. An internal mechanism allows the handle's rotational position to be adjusted without actuating the mounting stud. For users of the previous generation of post mounting clamps, the same quick-release handle is also sold separately (Item # C15QR(/M)).

(posted 2020-03-13 12:58:10.07) I am going to use your PN C1517. But I am going to modify it (add some tapped holes) to hold my own "special" optics.
If you had a version of the C1517 where the movable plate with the counter-bore for the 2" OD mirror was replaced with a flat plate with a grid of 1/4-20 threaded holes I would use that instead.
Seems like a new movable plate without the counter-bore would give you a more "universal" product. YLohia
(posted 2020-03-13 02:15:50.0) Hello, thank you for your feedback. Currently, we offer the C1511 1.5" post mounting clamp with 1/4-20 tapped holes on the front plate, which does not have the kinematic adjustability of the C1517. I have posted your request on our internal engineering forum for further consideration as a future product. |
